South Point is a 15 unit townhouse development in the Point Breeze neighborhood of South Philadelphia. The project was developed in partnership with the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority, which provided land to the developer to build unsubsidized housing that will be affordable to families earning between 80% and 100% of the Area Median Income. The homes were designed with a practical approach to producing low energy homes without mechanical complexities or comfort compromises using large windows for daylighting and passive warming, a high-efficiency heat pump for heating and cooling, mechanical ventilation, and a meticulously-built building envelope. The compact 1,450 sf floor plans create generously sized rooms within a small building footprint; the basement features a full bath and two flex spaces, the first level provides an open floor plan with kitchen, dining, and living areas, and there are two bedrooms and a second full bathroom on the second floor.
