These 25 residential units intended as rentals are rooted in the tradition of the historic triplex buildings that are prevalent in the surrounding neighborhood. Most unique to the design is its intention to become one of Philadelphia’s first Net-Zero Energy residential communities and one of the country’s largest. At 26,000 sf., Folsom Flats intends to achieve net zero energy consumption and net zero carbon emissions annually. This includes energy required for heating, cooling, lighting and domestic hot water generated on-site. As a model of sustainable development, our proposal articulates an urban, social, and financially sustainable strategy that matches its environmental commitment.
