Located in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, this project continues the rhythm of the street and explores the unusual sectional shift between Laurel Street and Pollard Street behind, creating a three and four-story building simultaneously. The conventional ‘pass-through’ service way, commonly found in many traditional row homes and meant to act as a shared link between the street and the back yard, is used in this project to activate differing levels of entry, interaction, and community. The ‘faces’ of this project attempt to entice and encourage yet confound definitive readings of program, density and height.
